Do I still need this if the official site crops for me?
The official tool crops and checks basics, but it does not replace a careful look at background, glasses, blur and lighting. We help you fix those before you start the renewal form.
Paper form or online renewal?
Use this option only for opr.travel.state.gov online renewal. For mail or in-person paper forms, choose “US Passport (paper)” and print the 4 × 6 sheet.
What file will I get?
A composition-checked JPEG sized for a digital upload, kept between 54 KB and 10 MB. You can still adjust the crop again inside the official application.
Can I wear glasses?
No, except for documented medical reasons.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Face detection, cropping and all checks run inside your browser. Your photo is never sent to our servers.
Is acceptance guaranteed?
No one outside the issuing authority can guarantee acceptance. We check the measurable rules (size, head height, eye line, background, light, sharpness) so you can catch problems before you submit.
